--markus_etas, Jan 15th, 2012 24:16

i thought the passages book was well done but the mastery book is really unmatched by anything else on the market imho. it's more like having a personal coach than just a book. thankx.

--OTP, Jan 11th, 2012 13:47

Hi. I didn't see the huge jump in score i was hoping for, but my girlfriend did when she borrowed both your books. Thought you should know.

--eddie-would-go, Jan 9th, 2012 18:32

my verbal went from a 8 to 12 in about five weeks with your strategies. so thank you very much!

--sgt.peppr, Dec 27th, 2011 20:51

got a VR 13! wohoo!

--megan17, Dec 20th, 2011 12:09

Hi ivyhall. first thanks for the deal on the two books. sweet discount. second i just wanted to say that i went through all the passages and they really helped my verbal score. now i'm getting 11s regularly and have you to thank. my teacher couldn't even do that and he's expensive. peace!

--2sah, Dec 17th, 2011 01:37

improved my verbal score 4 points (8 to 12) and it took a little under 2 months. i owe you a big thanks.

--9_dolphin, Dec 9th, 2011 15:02

thank you for the fast delivery that arrived one day early. really appreciate it.

--susan, Dec 8th, 2011 09:46

35 on my october mcat (11, 12, 12). each strategy you guys write about boosted my verbal score.

--AKB, Dec 2nd, 2011 12:16

Your program helped my reading comprehension. I needed to read faster and remember what I was reading and I followed your training program for about 6 weeks. Now I read much faster like I can finish a passage in under 5 minutes and actually remember what I read while getting many questions correct. I send a big thank you.

--nvma, Dec 1st, 2011 10:02

pretty decent and thorough

--TJ, Dec 1st, 2011 05:31

--Chris Burnam, Nov 30th, 2011 14:11

great. thanks.

--mit_nerd, Nov 28th 2011 11:29

The mastery book is unlike any other I’ve had. I use it all the time and have 2 months left before my mcat.

--Lan8, Nov 27th, 2011 14:06

not helpful for me but my pre-med friend used them. no complaints. you guys shipped them right away in great condition.

--d09fp8, Nov 25th, 2011 22:50

Just writing to say I find very helpful your books. Hi from Japan~~

--takeshi, Nov 14th, 2011 20:14

My feedback is to complement your customer service and shipping which did a really great job and sent me the books very fast. That helped calm my nerves. Thank you.

--Tina Ng, Nov 9th, 2011 15:32

I spent 1 month working with both training books and I scored an 11 on verbal, up from a 7. Thought you'd like to know.

--888, Oct 25th, 2011 07:51

do you provide personal tutoring?

--sasha2, Oct 24th, 2011 07:15

great stuff.

--w, Oct 22nd, 2011 24:11

They arrived sooner that I had expected. thanks.

--NicholasR, Oct 15th, 2011 11:09

34 with a 12 on verbal.

--imatree, Oct 11th, 2011 09:02

A little too tricky for me. But I found the interviews with top students helpful to help improve my study habits.

--dancemania, Oct 2nd, 2011 08:58

This came when I needed lots of extra work with pulling up a low verbal. I spent so much time reading your books but I did super on the mcat so I'm very happy. thanks!

--Inga52231, Sept 20th, 2011 08:39

solid guys.

--islkjgt, Sept 16th, 2011 16:28

The mastery book really helped the way i comprehend material and i do recommend it.

--veronica, Sept 12th, 2011 23:51

Im not a fan of prep books in general and my friend let me borrow these books because my verbal was poor. So I worked with them for about 3 months and initially they were tough but now it's sort of flowing and I'm getting better at answering passage questions correctly. So there are pretty good.

--Shoes_yay!, Sept 3rd, 2011 05:37

they work if you stick to it. they work pretty well.

--Chas6, Oct 27th, 2011 21:49

Maybe its just me but any extra practice is valuable, so i found your books to be helpful. I like the strategies you guys write about and the interviews. The passages help if you work through them all.

--FamousGirl, Oct 24th, 201109:26

pretty good, but i didn't need tons of verbal help so i didn't read them as much.

--eroyi, Oct 9th, 2011 11:40

thanks for the help with these books. i found the green one more useful for me than the other but they are both useful for probably anyone wanting to improve their score.

--24852, Oct 8th, 2011 02:57

yay. 35 mcat! do both of the books.

--asdafd, July 28th, 2011 23:38

My brother is taking the MCAT soon, and I just took it last month. We both struggled with verbal and I found your books very useful to give me a good score. I’m gonna lend them to him now. Thanks.

--rock climber3, July 10th, 2011 01:44

Dear Ivyhall, you gave me great customer support and I just wanted to say thank you for it. A little thing like that makes a big difference during times of stress.

--Francesca, July 10th, 2011 11:09

Hello IH, my MCAT score results came back 12, 11, 12 (VR). I’m so very pleased. Your tests helped me achieve this more than any other tests. Best regards.

--b6, July 7th, 2011 15:28

My college counselor recommended your books and they really helped my verbal score. Thanx.

--Harvardsoph, July 2nd, 2011 08:50

Fast delivery, beautiful packaging, very easy to work with. Great service and they arrived in perfect condition. Will let my friends know.

--james_morris, July 1st, 2011 21:37

There’s nothing weak in either of these books which you might expect to see in other VR books I have. The interviews in the purple book actually gave me good approaches to improve how to study for verbal, and the tests in the green one kept me busy for about a month. In the end my VR score come up 3 points. So I’m happy!

--Marcella848, June 24th, 2011 10:20

hello ivyhall review, i complement you on these solid study guides. very worth the price if you get the sale. good luck everyone.

--new york girl, June 16th, 2011 16:18

So I’ve been reading lots of reviews on MCAT books. SDN is brutal and full of haters and fakers tearing down products left and right. Amazon is famous for competitors dropping 1-star reviews. Can’t trust any of them, so I appreciate what you’re doing here. Reviews from students only. That rocks. You can post this one. Your Mastery book is what I consider a solid training program for MCAT verbal, and one that got me a 34 score = 11, 12, 12 (VR)!

--Alyssa Nasri, June 9th, 2011 20:54

March MCAT = 35! the program worked! Thank you! ~~ :)

--michaeltran_in_sanfran, June 6th, 2011 16:18

on the money for my verbal woes. I need serious verbal rehab. Lol.

--V.S., June 5th, 2011 22:59

Hello, great book. my feb mcat was a 34! verbal was a 11!

--yourlove, June 2nd 2011 09:10

32 mcat! woo hooo.

--Asam the man, June 1st, 2011 13:47

It just didn't work for me. But that doesn't mean it can't work for others. Good luck all!

--26834, May 29th 2011 21:37

I commend you on an excellent verbal reasoning study guide.

--Yale512, May 26th, 2011 17:40

Dear Publisher, if I sleep on your books will they give me a VR score of 15?

--$pizzas, May 20th, 2011 10:19

Nice job IvyHall. This is the best book I've found to help me with verbal reasoning.

--iceland_trecker, May 19th, 2011 03:05

Delivered right away in perfect condition! Thanks for your excellent service.

--7_7, May 3rd, 2011 20:57

I enjoyed reading your book and wanted to tell you how well written I think it is.

--Killarney, April 27th, 2011 08:33

Hi, I was preparing for a massive clash and failure on the verbal portion last month and almost couldn't sleep because waiting for my score was worse than taking the test. This was after 3 months of using your mastery guide. Every day I practiced by reading the material you recommended and did the exercises. My score came back an 11 and I'm so happy. This rocks!

--forpedro, April 19th, 2011 10:47

I don't think your book gets enough credit. Must make your competitors nervous. Anyway, it's really worth what I paid for it. Very good.

--ManU., April 10th, 2011 23:16

As long as there are students struggling on verbal, there will be a need for your mastery book because it handles the training aspects quite well. On the other books out there, I can only say that they give you fluff for training strategies. I think they do this because they want you to sign up for their expensive prep classes. But your book is the only one that lays out a real effective training approach that I've seen. Thumbs up. This is just my honest opinion.

--V*S*D, April 2nd, 2011 18:41

lots of discussion on all aspects of verbal reasoning. well done.

--Lauren B., March 24th, 2011 10:36

I think this is very helpful for anyone who needs to improve their score.

--solarsurfing, March 23rd, 2011 09:20

great

--radiology_hopeful, March 15th, 2011 22:45

I am now in medical school at a top program. there were two things that helped me the most to get in - great letters of recs, and pulling up my verbal score. what helped my score the most was strictly following the advice in here. thank you very much.

--Dean, March 8th, 2011 14:58

Wow. Your book has so much that I had to write and let you know here's an impressed customer.

--222red, March 3rd, 2011 13:06

I work on the staff of pre-med advising at our college and this is the text we recommend to students needing to improve verbal reasoning.

--Dr. Johnson, March 2nd, 2011 19:35

For anyone looking for a complete book on MCAT verbal you can't get closer than this i honestly say. It would be nice to have a 1-month plan in here, but I also realize it's not really realistic to change verbal ability so fast.

--harvardchick, March 1st, 2011 09:31

impressive.

--waterrrr, March 1st, 2011 14:29

Excellent verbal book without a doubt, and while it has exercises it has no formal passages so you get those in the green book. i send a big thank you to your entire team.

--puma_tennis, February 16th, 2011 18:15

I got this for the interviews with top verbal performers. They go into detail about how to study and what to do to get a high score. I followed their suggestions and did very well on the MCAT. The book offers much more than the interviews. My only complaint is really not a complaint in that it takes a few months to do the program, but the program works!

--Liana S., February 18th, 2011 10:26

At my university they recommend this book. Just wanted to let you guys know.

--nerveblock, February 18th, 2011 17:03

I'd give it a 4.5 because it doesn't have passages, but it has everything else and more than i could find in any other verbal prep book or classroom. i picked up the green book to round out the passage practice. in four weeks i've managed to gain 3 VR points so something is working.

--sam, February 19th, 2011 13:48

Editorial Reviews

"This resource is amazing. It tackles head-on the most highly weighed section of the MCAT in predicting the academic success of future physicians. The strategies presented for approaching answering questions has applicability not only for the MCAT, but for any standardized test featuring reading comprehension. I love the sections on false assumptions that students bring to the exam and how to reduce test-day anxiety. Do not prepare for the MCAT without this book. This is an utterly readable, engaging, and invaluable resource."

--Dr. David Verrier, Director, Pre-Professional Programs & Advising, Johns Hopkins University

"If you want to master the most important section of the MCAT, then this book is for you. Do not underestimate the power of a good verbal score! I wish I had this book a few years ago."

--Christina Kendrick, Medical Student, University of California, Los Angeles

"Of all the 26 MCAT test preparation books I used throughout my studies, this MCAT verbal book reigns by far the best. I found no other verbal reasoning book that could so holistically tackle the most essential -- and often times overlooked -- aspects of the MCAT experience. Along with an invaluable study plan, the book includes in-depth and current information on general MCAT strategies, MCAT psychological approach, correcting and diagnosing MCAT question errors, actual testing conditions for the CBT, real examinee interviews, and perhaps most importantly, an entirely innovative approach to using memory efficiently (Neuro-Visual Programming). In addition, the book is well organized and the writing style is exceptionally understandable. At points you may even feel that Mr. Chaney is presenting a dialogue and has become your personal MCAT coach. Above all, no matter how far along in your MCAT preparation, I highly recommend this book because it offers a wealth of invaluable life-long learning and test taking skills."

--Natalie Spritzer, Pre-Medical Student, University of California, San Diego

reviews @ ivyhallreview . com

We would like to address a few questions that many of you have asked:

Q. What makes your passage book more recommended than others?

A. We believe our passages are unmatched in terms of range and depth of topics, writing sophistication, question diversity, and logical thought of question stems and answers. Other passage books emphasize topics and questions that are more narrow in focus and too simplistic, and unfortunately many students do not see the kind of improvement they hope to achieve practicing with them. We know this because they come to us after trying other books and courses. Don't take our word for it, compare our book to others and then send us a message.

Q. Are the passages extremely difficult in the Passage book?

A. No, the question levels match those of the MCAT and include easy, medium, and hard levels of difficulty. The passages are sophisticated, as they are on the real MCAT. 24 universities, over 80 pre-med advisors, and over 500 students have recommended our book in the past 4 months, and this is just those we hear from. Most students who work through all 50 passages report to us and their advisors improved verbal scores. Remember, we are accountable to students and advisors.

Q. How much can my score improve after using your books?

A. This is impossible to say, but our MCAT tests and verbal programs have helped thousands of students. The most dedicated students who actually complete our books report on average a 3-point improvement in their MCAT verbal scores, with a range of 2 to 5 points. There are no overnight magic strategies. We have learned through years of experience that solid improvement comes from a solid training program along with extensive practice with challenging passages. Our Mastery and Passage books provide exactly this, which is why students and college advisors use them time and time again.

Q. Do marketing people write your books or MCAT experts?

A. We do not have a marketing department. We remain a close-knit publisher, and this strength allows us to attract MCAT authors and reading comprehension experts to produce top-quality books that truly mimic the MCAT. In the past, other companies have hired MBA grads and pre-med students to write their material - we do not.

Q. What if I buy your book and not like it?

A. This hardly ever happens because most of our customers are very happy, but tell us and we will work something out! We have a Satisfaction Guarantee policy which means we work with any dissatisfied customers to fix any problems. We are here to please you and help you achieve your educational dreams. We produce the only MCAT verbal book recommended by the director of Pre-Med Advising at Johns Hopkins University, arguably the best pre-med program nationally. So we firmly believe that you will find our strategies and practice passages extremely useful.

Q. There are some bad reviews that attempt to be exceedingly harmful on Amazon and SDN. What's the deal?

A. There are people hired to write bad reviews on Amazon and SDN. We have inquired at Amazon and SDN about this. Furthermore, we have a Satisfaction Guarantee policy that addresses any concerns of customers, so we do not believe these are genuine reviewers. We please all customers. Test-prep is a big business. Large companies hire third-party services to write good reviews about their books and malignant reviews about their competition. This is an underground business most students are not aware of. IvyHall Review refuses to participate in this dishonest practice, and we believe it will eventually backfire. We are posting all live reviews here which are verified.
